about the tea room

Elevate Your Everyday

Our Story

The Tea Room began with a simple idea to create a place where thoughtful design and hospitality could come together through the ritual of tea.

Created by Laura and Tim Hodges, The Tea Room is an extension of Laura Hodges Studio and the values that have shaped their work and life in Catonsville, where they live with their family.

As an interior designer, Laura has spent her career creating spaces that encourage connection, comfort, and intentional living. Together, Laura and Tim envisioned The Tea Room as a way to bring those ideas beyond the home, creating a welcoming place where people could gather, slow down, and spend meaningful time together.

Located within Laura Hodges Studio in the heart of Catonsville, The Tea Room transforms an intimate space into a setting designed around the experience of tea. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from the vintage porcelain and carefully selected loose leaf teas to the seasonal menu and the way each service unfolds.

The result brings together design, craftsmanship, tea, and hospitality in a new way, creating a place to discover something new, enjoy good company, and make time for moments that might otherwise pass too quickly.

Our Curator

At the heart of each experience at The Tea Room is our Tea Curator, Adam, whose thoughtful approach to tea helps make every service both welcoming and engaging.

Adam guides guests through the world of tea with a focus on curiosity and discovery. From introducing the origins and characteristics of each tea to exploring aroma, color, and flavor, he creates an experience that is informative without feeling formal.

For Adam, tea is about more than what is in the cup. It is an opportunity to slow down, learn something new, and connect with the people around you. His warm, conversational approach encourages guests to ask questions, explore their own preferences, and experience tea in a way that feels approachable and personal.

As Tea Curator, Adam selects the teas featured throughout the season and guides each Signature Tea Service, bringing the stories, traditions, and nuances of tea to life for every guest who joins us.

Our Philosophy

We believe beauty has the power to shape how we feel. When thoughtful design, exceptional tea, and genuine hospitality come together, even an ordinary afternoon can become something memorable.

Every detail of The Tea Room has been chosen with intention, from the seasonal loose leaf teas to the handcrafted menu and calming interiors. Our hope is simple. That you leave feeling more connected than when you arrived.
